The program is part of a so-called member-directed giving program, where grants are awarded solely on the recommendation of a GTIA member company. This includes IT service providers, vendors, distributors, and other players within the global IT channel. With this approach, GTIA clearly positions its members as a link between technology, local communities, and social impact.

Applications can be submitted immediately and must be received by May 1, 2026, at the latest. Most grants will range between $25,000 and $50,000 per project, with the possibility of higher amounts in cases of exceptional quality, scale, or international relevance. The program is part of GTIA's broader charitable commitment of $5 million for 2026, which further expands the organization's social investments. This approach is supported by a long-term endowment strategy focused on sustainable and member-driven philanthropy.

According to Kelly Ricker, Chief Operating Officer of GTIA, the initiative demonstrates how significant the impact of the global technology community can be when knowledge, networks, and local engagement come together. "Our members have a keen insight into the challenges and opportunities in their own regions. By actively involving them in the allocation of resources, we ensure that support reaches organizations that effectively use technology to promote access, equality, and progress," said Ricker.

GTIA targets organizations and schools with these grants that use technology to break down structural barriers. This includes improving education and learning outcomes, narrowing the digital divide, developing technological workforce and reskilling initiatives, and innovative applications that create economic opportunities and enhance social inclusion. Projects that demonstrably contribute to greater access, equality, and impact have a clear advantage.

The program has an international scope. Non-profit organizations around the world can qualify for a grant, provided they are nominated by a GTIA member. In 2025, $600,000 was already awarded through this program to initiatives that use technology as a force for social progress.
