NTT Ltd., a global provider of technology and business solutions, announced yesterday the launch of its service offering IoT Services for Sustainability. The new end-to-end offering of solutions helps companies make progress in the context of global sustainability initiatives and make data-driven decisions to reduce their carbon footprint through the intelligent use of IoT connectivity.
The solutions of these IoT services include:
- OCR Meter Reading: an optical meter reader to register near real-time data from any type of meter for water, electricity, and gas. The meter is also suitable for reading any type of measuring device, including devices for pressure and temperature.
- Water Leakage Management: this technology provides real-time, IoT-driven protection against water damage for smart space projects.
- Predictive Maintenance: this solution collects data using sensors that enable the prediction of when critical events may occur, such as potential downtime, accidents, or the replacement of parts.
Environmental Monitoring: this technology uses sensors that not only identify the presence of pollutants in air and water but also track temperature and humidity.
NTT's IoT Services for Sustainability service offering includes secure IT/OT integration and end-to-end support. This helps organizations quickly gain insight into the benefits of the technology after implementation. Benefits include savings on energy costs, faster reduction of emissions, advanced operational excellence, and better execution of work processes throughout the organization. The new offering of solutions works in conjunction with NTT's new LoRaWAN network and available sensors that measure, monitor, and collect data to drive sustainability goals.
"IoT technologies are an essential tool in the global fight against climate change," says Jeff Merritt, head of Urban Transformation at the World Economic Forum. "We know what actions are needed for a more sustainable future and we have a robust set of technologies to make this possible. As the world seeks to accelerate the implementation of these solutions, organizations like NTT have a crucial role to play in helping businesses and governments seize these opportunities."
This announcement follows the appointment of two experienced industry professionals to drive growth and momentum for NTT's IoT and sustainability initiatives. Devin Yaung, an authority in the field of wireless technology, has been appointed as Senior Vice President of Group Enterprise IoT Products and Services at NTT Ltd. and has over 25 years of experience with technology focused on business transformation. Vicky Bullivant has also been appointed as Senior Vice President, Group Sustainability at NTT Ltd. Vicky has 25 years of experience in designing and executing successful sustainability, social, climate, and ESG strategies that support the commercial objectives of organizations in a fast-paced and changing business environment.
"Almost two-thirds (61.4%) of CEOs say they align their business strategies with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Yet only two in five companies have the solutions needed to achieve these organizational goals," says Devin Yaung, SVP of Group Enterprise IoT Products and Services.
"That’s why it is more important than ever to prioritize and provide sustainability solutions for our enterprise customers. Our new range of solutions supports organizations in achieving their sustainability goals and improving processes across their entire business, whether it’s reducing waste from manufacturing errors or gaining insight into the carbon footprint of the supply chain. The use of IoT will enable companies to make real-time decisions, streamline processes, and realize the transformation to sustainability. We are proud to announce this offering at such a crucial moment, and we look forward to working with our customers to bring about changes that enable a more sustainable future."
